The Notre Dame Fighting Irish will be the team to beat when the BPSN Girls Basketball Tournament kicks off Tuesday with six games at Ridley College.

The Irish returned several key players from a squad that made it all the way to the Ontario Federation of Schools Athletic Associations AAA quarter-finals last season. So far this season in Niagara Catholic Athletic Association play, the Irish are a perfect 3-0 with an average winning margin of 40.3 points.

“We have good returnees coming back,” said Loris Lucchetta, who coaches the team with Kristen Dean. “Lila Di Pietro, Ava DeChellis and Ava Briggs are back as Grade 12s and they bring good experience to our team. And Camilla (Moscato) is back as a Grade 11 and her experience is a big asset to our team.”
